I am aware of a desire in my heart to be someone's priority. I have come to realise things about relationships as a result of witnessing flaws in other people's relationships. I know I have this desire in my heart, but I am also God's priority. Only God can quench my thirst for love and acceptance. God created me to want to be loved and he gave me the gift of choosing a companion to spend my life and to walk alongside in our walks with Christ, with the only goal to serve and honour God with our relationship. I know that I have the desire to be pursued here on earth, but I will not let it distract me from God. It will not get in the way of what God has for me, it will be part of God's plan for my life.
The right person will encourage me and empower me to live my purpose here on earth. I have realised that I have never taken relationships lightly, I have always had the tendency to guard my heart, I am still discovering why. I am learning how to open up to people and to truly trust, because I have been hurt in the past. I have put walls up because I have seen people close to me suffer because of their misuse of trust in their relationship. But with God's help, he will show who I am to spend my life with. I do not take giving my heart away lightly because I know that I am a daughter of the King and I was made to be treated with dignity and respect. I am to guard my heart, and keep things to myself that God meant to be kept for marriage like my virginity and the depths of my heart, but at the same time I will learn to give a potential future spouse my trust.
The man of God that you are meant to spend your life with will prove to you that he is a true man of God. He will serve in the kingdom, he will be humble, patient, honest and treat you with respect. It will take a while to observe his character, he may look like a man of God at church but he may be living a completely different lifestyle during the week. If you think someone has potential you should observe their character and learn about how they live their life, and how they treat other people like their Mum. God made women to be cherished, respected, and treated with dignity - ultimately to be loved like Christ loved the church. A man of God will prove to you that he is always willing to be perfected by God, his life mission is to walk with his father and because of this he will learn how to treat you like the daughter of the King that you are. He will be an imperfect man that is always willing to let God perfect him. He will be living his life opening himself up to God and letting him influence every part of his life - including how he treats you. This is an ongoing process, and it takes time and dedication, but his attitude will be evident. A godly man will have his eyes fixed on God - on the prize and he will hold your hand as you leap your hurdles here on earth, here in this race toward the finish line.
I have been told multiple times by the world when I was about 10-13 years old, that I take relationships too seriously, I'm acting immature and strange for my opinion and approach about dating young with no intent of marriage (just playing around or practicing for the real thing). But I have realised that my view on it is what God wants for me. God wants me to guard my heart because it is the wellspring of life, he doesn't want me to give it away, and he also doesn't want me to put walls up so high no one can get to it. Knowing who you are in Christ, and keeping your eyes open for men of God is the way to go. Keep running the race towards God and God will introduce you to the man of God that he has for you. Pray about your future husband, seek wise counsel from mentors who can keep you in check and encourage you in your search, but never forget that God has never stopped searching for you, he longs to know you. Pursue your creator before you pursue a husband. God knows you better than you know yourself so he will know exactly what you need in a companion and he also has perfect timing. If you pursue God first and understand what he is calling you to on earth (your spiritual gifts and how you will serve in the kingdom), it will be easier to find a companion that can help you and empower you to serve and to become closer to Christ each day. God knows you, he knows exactly what you need, he will provide and he will sustain.
'Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.' Psalms 37:4
I want my relationship to be a reflection of God's love for the church and what God wants for godly relationships to look like. Self-less sacrificial love.
